Programs

The Center for Black Studies (CBS) is committed to the success of NIU students and offers a range of mentoring and other programs. While our programs center on and examine the needs and experiences of those whose identities include being members of Black and African American communities, all are welcome to participate.

Continuing the work we’ve performed for decades, the center provides a multifaceted approach to student success. We strive to advance the university’s mission by offering mentoring, academic support and career exploration resources and services, in addition to the John Henrik Clarke Honor Society and cultural events and heritage programs that support the entire NIU community.
